MasterDistiller: Vessels (Cask & Container)
Both casks and containers have similar properties and are therefore throughout this referred to as “Vessels” with differences between the 2 described in a bit more detail in sub articles.
Vessels consist of 3 parts as detailed in the headings below:
- The type represents a commonality between multiple unique assets e.g. French Ex-Red Wine Barrique
- An Asset represents a single unique ‘cask’ or ‘container’ with a full maturation/storage history linked to a more general type as above.
- A Filled Vessel represents spirit maturing/stored in the vessel for a given period of time e.g. peated spirits maturing in a cask for 10 years.
