Transfers represent the movement of spirit within the system. When a Cask/Container/Vatting is filled a transfer is created with the corresponding vessel as the destination and when it is emptied a Transfer is created with the corresponding vessel as the source.

Usually, Transfers will be created in context when performing operations such as filling a cask or regauging a cask.

Transfers can also represent the movement of liquid not just to other vessels but also for the following reasons:

  • Record Variance
    • Maturation Losses (this reduces the measures of the vessel but maintains the cost so the cost per litre increases)
    • Operational (this reduces the measures of the vessel but maintains the cost so the cost per litre increases)
  • Write Off
    • Writes off the value and reduces the measures
  • Removal
    • Represents the liquid is no longer in stock, usually done when a cask is checked out of stock.
  • Imported Transfer
    • Used for importing data, usually pre-system data.
