MasterDistiller: Bottling

Creating a Finished Good (Product)

Bottling requires the creation of a finished good in Inventory which is the item that is to be produced

To create a product in inventory:

  • Inventory > Products > Products > New
  • You will be presented with the product form:
    • Enter Product Name
    • Uncheck ‘Can Be Sold’ if the product is not to be sold
    • Uncheck ‘Can Be Purchased’ if the product is not something you can purchase or manufacture - in most cases this should be unchecked.
    • Ensure product type is ‘storable’
    • Select the relevant Units of Measure - the default is ‘Units’
    • Enter a sales price and tax rates for customers if relevant
    • Select the correct product category and check that the SKU has been generated in the Internal Reference field, this is based on the selected category

    • Under the ‘Inventory’ tab selected the relevant tracking method - Lots / Serial Numbers or None.
    • Under the Bottling Information tab enter the strength - as per the label / advertised strength of the product.
    • Select the Bottle Size from the drop-down e.g. 0.7 = 70cl
    • Enter the quantity per case - The default is 6

  • Click the Cloud Save Icon

Creating a Bill of Materials

To create a Bill of Materials for the manufactured product:

Manufacturing > Products > Bill of Materials > New:

  • Select the product that is being manufactured (From Section Finished Good (Product))
  • Select the variant - In most cases there will only be one but if you have alternative labeling requirements you may create variants for different labels to be used for the same product
  • In quantity enter the quantity of the finished good the BoM is for - this may be 6 if it is to represent a case and only 1 cardboard case is to be deducted per 6
  • Go to the ‘Bottling Information’ tab, this will be prefilled with the data from the product.
    • From the dropdown for manufacturing type select ‘’Bottling Only” - the other is for non-bottled items that need assembly.
  • Go to the ‘Components’ tab and start adding your components and their respective quantities required for the quantity being produced that was entered above.
  • When entering the wetgood e.g. vatting/2021/1 the quantity should be calculated from the bottling information.
  • Click the Cloud Save Icon

Creating and Completing a Manufacturing Order

To create a new Manufacturing Order and Produce Finished Goods:

Manufacturing > Operations > Manufacturing Orders > New:

  • Select the Product to be produced (Based on what was created above)
  • The Bill of Materials should populate automatically
  • If you are bottling the entire vatting/container during this Manufacturing Order - the system will predict the possible yield, If not you can override this by ticking the box “Override Quantity Prediction” and entering the number of units being bottled.
  • Check Component stock levels are good (Green Graph Icon on line item)
  • Click “Confirm”
  • Enter the Quantity actually produced

  • For any components tracked in lots or with a consumption variation click the green list icon on the right-hand side of the component line:

  • Go to the “Bottling Record” Tab
    • “Bottling Data” displays the measures based on component consumption that have been bottled, if these look correct click “Confirm Bottling”
      • Review quantity produced and BoM ABV if incorrect

Optional

  • To Declare any operational losses tick “Declare Operational Loss”
  • This will automatically prefill the loss measures with the difference between the bottled measures and the current measures in the tank to allow for any losses in pipework or filters
    • These can manually be amended where required if a known loss not from the difference is to be recorded
  • Click “Confirm Loss”
  • Click “Submit Records”
  • Click “Submit Record” - Only if no operational loss was declared
  • Click Mark as Done (Top Left)
